Engineering a religion ????

The very word engineering strikes an awe and a gasp . The awe from the layman and the gasp from the student. Engineering was considered as the ultimate in science and technology and the most professional amongst all the fields of education. In short it is nothing short of a religion. Where does this parallelism between the two arises ? well it exists whether we want it or not...Just as religion is being blindly followed so is engineering these days. Religion was to provide a way of meaningful existence for a man, but it has become quite the opposite. Engineering is quite an contradition to itself as many take it up just to make sure they are in the mob.Engineers are dime a dozen these days... Mob psychology has induced so many engineers into the society..

Why talk of society ? its pretty vague.. no point in depending upon others to find our individuality. Any student as for that matter has to know what he wants to be.. what he needs to get expertise.. Sledom do we find such a guy or gal who "knows" what he/she is, instead of believing the projection of themselves with the perception of another(the mob)... The unique fields feel the blow.. these fields lose many a good people just because the gifted ones lack the ability to realise oneself.

Coming to engineering, why do we have such mad craze for engineering ? The primary factor has been already discussed.. No it is not certainly the fact that it is the most professional amongst courses... Mob psychology contributes the major share of engineers...Journalism is one course which has been the most professional.. and another is politics .. both these are professional to the core.. so is law... Another factor is the pay packages.. The common mis conception that engineers are paid much, has penetrated deep into the analytical thinking of sutdents...yes engineers do get good pay on an average.. in fact more than they deserve... but their individuality gets lost in the mediocrity... That is what that has happened to religion.. the uniquness of the religion., their salient features has been lost in the vast ocean of mediocrity... The mediocrity in this case arising due to lack of depth in thought...

It seems that this trend is likely to continue unabated... Many, are the students who have lost themselves into mediocrity.well, i'm one of them ...........................................
